Meeting planning tips for your next online meeting

If you're new to the world of online conferencing or if
you've had a less than ideal experience with such a meeting,
you may be wondering what does make an effective meeting.
One simple answer is "planning." Meeting planning can go a
long way in ensuring that your next conferencing experience
goes smoothly and accomplishes the necessary tasks and
goals.
Setting up an agenda is an important step in planning
your online meeting. When participants know the goals and
flow of the meeting, it's easier to stay on track and be
productive.
Additionally, this allows for participants to prepare, so
they can do some planning as well. A planned list of topics
to cover keeps you from omitting key information during the
meeting itself.
The more time spent preparing for a meeting tends to lead
to more productive meetings. Roughly an hour is ideal. Some
items to include in your planning are:
- Determining precisely who needs to attend. Include
only those necessary to accomplishing the planned agenda.
- Making sure all links work, if you plan on sending
them out.
- Going over the tools available in your web
conferencing interface in order to ensure familiarity and
avoid embarrassing moments during the meeting.
- Sending out meeting reminders to all participants to
ensure a prompt start.

helping you get the most out of your meetings, whether you
are conferencing on the web or in person. Taking the time to
plan, which includes setting goals and setting up an agenda,
can help you be more confident once the meeting begins.
